Rediscovering the Fire of Everyday Life presented by Dr. R. Scott Colglazier, June 14-17, 2011.
Join us in northern Tuscany where you can relax into your inner journey just 30 minutes from Florence, amidst rolling vineyards, olive groves, and moody cypress trees. Here, you will discover unparalleled beauty and settle into a pace reminiscent of quiet, simpler times. The Florentine countryside is the perfect setting for this unique retreat.

Villa il Trebbiolo
Comfortably housed in the historic Villa il Trebbiolo, you will enjoy wonderful Tuscan meals in the restaurant, walk the wooded trails, lounge in the loggia with a book, or swim in the pool nestled amongst the olive trees. Following the Retreat, take a day excursion into Firenze, Florence, where you can visit museums, churches, historic monuments or simply meander through the ancient stone streets. All of this and more is possible during your upcoming four days in Tuscany.

Formal Garden
The retreat will open on Tuesday June 14 with a community dinner at 8:00 p.m., where Dr. Colglazier will welcome all participants. In the midst of delicious food and wine, he will outline the upcoming retreat experience. Sessions will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning, concluding with a celebratory Tuscan lunch. Included in the Retreat will be some remarkable storytelling interludes with Cheryl and Emerson Martlage, who live and work in a nearby Tuscan farmhouse and studio—all within walking distance of Il Trebbiolo. Marti Colglazier will lead the group each morning in some gentle body movement and imaginative meditation.

Valley View
Dr. Colglazier has the following comments in anticipation of the retreat: “As many of you already know, one of my guiding mantras is that ‘The greatest glory to God is a human being fully alive.’ During this retreat experience, we will explore what it means to be alive to daily life. How do we nurture our creativity? How do we find peace in the midst of daily stress? How do we embrace the life we have in order to find the life we want? How do we find more joy and zest and energy for living? How do we discover more poetry in our daily living? And most of all, how do we discover the presence of God in daily experience? These questions and more will be explored during our retreat experience in Tuscany.”
It is assumed that people will vacation before or after the retreat. Those plans and transportation are the responsibility of each person. The price for the retreat covers the three-night stay at Il Trebbiolo and meals during our time together. For the sake of the retreat experience, all participants are asked to be at the Villa by Tuesday, June 14 and not leave until the retreat concludes on Friday, June 17. To say the least, this will be a remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime, transformative experience.
On August 20th we will update this site with additional information about the retreat. In the meantime, begin planning . . . begin dreaming! The cost of the retreat is $850 (depending on room selection), which includes three nights in the beautiful Villa, all meals from Tuesday evening through lunch on Friday, and of course, the creative and inspirational experience of the retreat itself. We have reserved the villa for a maximum of 20 retreat participants in order to enhance interactions and provide an ambiance of old Tuscan charm.
To set the mood and encourage your participation, we invite you to listen to the original song, Tuscan Hills and read a short story by Cheryl and Emerson.
